Sisters Of The Road Collects Hygiene Supplies
for Low-Income Families and Individuals
(Portland) November 22, 2006 - Did you know that many low-income families and individuals cannot purchase hygiene supplies like diapers with food stamps or get them at most food pantries? For 27 years, Sisters Of The Road has reached out to low-income and homeless families and individuals with friendship, hot meals, job training, mail service and hygiene supplies. During this season, Sisters seeks help collecting new hygiene items to distribute all year.
You and your workplace, church, school or group can help us in our effort by sponsoring a Hygiene Drive. Simply place a box in a convenient area with a list of items (written below in order of greatest need):
-- Diapers
-- Toothpaste, floss and mouthwash, and toothbrushes
-- Feminine hygiene supplies
-- Razors and shaving cream
-- Hats, gloves and socks
-- Compact rain ponchos (please, no coats or umbrellas)
-- Deodorant
-- Band-aids, small Neosporin packets and alcohol wipes; no medicine please
-- Lip balm and lotion
-- Powdered laundry soap
All of these items should be unopened and unused, please!
Sisters is happy to provide pamphlets detailing services and other information on request. Donations can be dropped off at the café, located at 133 NW 6th Avenue in downtown Portland, from 7 am to 5 pm, M-F.
Please call the number above with questions. Thank-you!
