Your Emotional Type, Michael A. Jawer and Marc S. Micozzi, Healing Arts Press, 2011, $14.95

Examining the interplay of emotions, chronic illness and pain, and treatment success, Michael Jawer and Dr. Marc Micozzi reveal how the 12 most common chronic conditions are linked to certain emotional types and how these ailments are best treated by choosing a healing therapy in line with your type. They extend the connection between mind and body by assessing seven alternative healing therapies to indicate which methods work best for your emotional type. You begin by taking a quiz/assessment that helps you determine your emotional boundary type. After you determine if your emotional boundaries are thick, thin or somewhere in between, you consult a chart showing which alternative healing therapies work best for your specific chronic condition. Say you are a thin boundary person suffering from migraines. After consulting the chart, you might determine that biofeedback would be an excellent alternative therapy for you to try. Micozzi has first-hand experience with the connection between emotional type and chronic illness as he suffered from a chronic condition and effectively resolved it with alternative therapies based on his emotional boundary type. If you suffer from a chronic condition, this short book filled with helpful advice is worth a try.

Astrology Reading Cards, Alison Chester-Lambert, Findhorn Press, 2012, $19.95

When I read on the Astrology Reading Cards box that using this oracle deck is almost as good as having a reading from a professional astrologer, I knew I had to put them to the test. I met with astrologer Emily Trinkhaus, who consulted my astrology chart as I did a reading to see how well the cards reflected what's happening for me astrologically. The question: How can I best move forward in my work right now? Emily gasped when I pulled the Virgo card. I’m a Sagittarius, but Emily pointed out that I have Virgo in three of my houses, which explains my innate attention to detail despite being a member of the Sag party animal sign. I pulled the Moon card, and Emily found that I have the Moon in Virgo on my chart. The answer: Proceed with attention to detail, listening to my inner guidance. The final score: The cards are a good representation of the archetypal energies of astrology. Not only are the cards beautifully illustrated, they are a delightfully fun and accurate way to get guidance and confirmation on life issues.

The Intuition Guidebook, Cyndi Dale, Deeper Well Publishing, 2011, $16.95

Author Cyndi Dale combines her knowledge of intuition, energy, chakras and healing in a dynamic book to assist readers. Dale helps you understand and develop your intuitive abilities, while learning about psychic boundary development and healing on all levels. There is a psychic sensitivity quiz that helps you determine your personal sensitivities. I found that I was primarily a kinesthetic or feeling psychic, with my auditory and visual abilities trailing behind. I wanted to be more visually inclined, yet when I read the chapter on the kinesthetic psychic sensitive, it felt like Dale was sitting across from me, talking to me about me. I went on to read the chapters on auditory and visual sensitivities, finding helpful material especially in the visual chapter, which contains a wealth of healing and information gathering visualizations. I tried one of the chakra meditations at my healthcare job where the environment is saturated with human suffering. The result? It was one of my best days at work. I felt great, my coworkers complimented me on my work, and my patients were easy to work with despite all of their emotional and physical difficulties. As a healer, intuitive and householder mystic, I loved this book and its wise guidance.

Your Life After Death, Michael G. Reccia, Band of Light Media, 2011, $24

Michael G. Reccia channels Joseph, a highly evolved spirit guide, to share what happens to souls when they cross over to the spiritual realm. Intriguing and detailed, this in-depth description of life beyond Earth shatters beliefs about death and who we really are as eternal souls. Joseph encourages human beings to release their attachment to addiction and suffering before they die, which would allow them to progress more quickly through the spiritual planes. While reincarnation is an option, Joseph strongly advises you to consider never coming back into body on Earth. Enlightenment is not a journey, but a realization, he says. At its essence the soul does not change, but the soul’s perception can change through experience. One lifetime on Earth can provide enough experience for a soul to reach personal enlightenment on the other side. Your Life After Death is a thought provoking A to Z guide of death and what comes next.
