AstroMark: The Quickening
by Mark Dodich
Get ready to pick up the pace. Aggressive Mars recently ended its “clean up old business” retrograde cycle and is now pushing forward to kick you into high gear. During this past March and April, you were advised to clear clutter and make space for what’s coming up. Well, here it comes!

The next two months of May and June transition you into a much quicker pace than you have seen in some time. Spring eclipses stimulate you to get on with the next stage of your life and expanding Jupiter jumps into speedy Gemini for the next year. On June 24, explosive Uranus begins a three-year grinding process with burn-your-bridges Pluto. But it all begins with an event that the ancient Mayans took very seriously.
Venus turns retrograde May 15 to June 27 in mental Gemini, then makes one of the rarest planetary alignments as it passes across the face of the Sun on June 6. This is an event that happens twice in eight years, and then it doesn’t happen again for more than 100 years.
Modern astrology associates Venus with love, money, art, beauty and creating balance in your life. Ancient astrology, including the Mayans, viewed Venus in this way when she was visible in the evening (prior to this June 6).
When she switched to being a morning star (after June 6), the ancients gave the brightly shining goddess a more aggressive personality. In fact, several ancient cultures waited for Venus to be a morning star before going to battle.
On a personal level, the next two months encourage you to review your value system. You are experiencing a paradigm shift in consciousness since spiritual Neptune slowly drifted into psychic Pisces last February. A softer, divine feminine energy is wafting into your reality.
Where Neptune activates you on higher consciousness levels, Venus works with your everyday values and desires. As Venus provides the illusion of moving backward, something she does less often than any other planet, you must rethink the balance of your spiritual and worldly path.
Do you still value the aspects of life you are putting your energy into — vocation, relationships and how you use your time? If you are stuck in old paradigm behaviors, this cycle helps you take action to move toward a life lived in a higher perspective.
The process begins with the solar eclipse on May 20 through the lunar eclipse on June 4. They land in the Gemini and Sagittarius parts of your natal chart, taking you to the depths of your being to see where you must realign your life to be adaptable. Remember that life is an adventure.
On the global level, watch for news under the solar eclipse path coming from China and Japan to the western United States. This can range from earthquake junk coming from Japan, to news from China or even an earthquake under the path of the eclipse on the southern Oregon coast. It might be fun to get filtered lenses and watch the solar eclipse from high up on Mt. Shasta.
All of these planetary shifts go to the next higher level when Zeus throws his thunderbolt into the mix. On June 11, Jupiter begins a year-long journey through quick-moving Gemini. The god of thunder doesn’t do anything small, so let go of any self-imposed limitations and prepare to take a risk on manifesting your dreams. Your restless spirit must explore new adventures in the coming year, so change is a mandate.
Although none of these planetary combinations are particularly patient in nature, there is one more rude combination (starting exactly on June 24) that will renovate the structure of your life seven times through spring 2015.
Revolutionary Uranus in impatient Aries challenges status quo Capricorn and transforming Pluto. This battle for major changes has been building up since 2011. Early examples are the Middle East revolutions, the Occupy movement, and the U.S. government health care and debt crisis.
The trick for both you and the world is to invent a new paradigm of thinking in the world, while doing it in a way that will have a solid foundation for the future. You must have a revolution, but still work within the system. Find a way to increase your creative freedom, yet still pay your bills in a responsible way.
The main message for spring is to be adaptable. Keep a clear mind and heart so you can make wise decisions quickly on the fly. Be like Einstein who advised that the way to go beyond your seemingly insurmountable problems is to raise your level of thinking above that which created those problems.
