Autumn Planetary Energies Say Let Go

The Mercury retrograde cycle from August comes out of its “I just want to hide out for a little bit longer” shadow on Sept. 9. That means the pace of your life is going to move faster, so play on Labor Day weekend while a relaxed pace is still available.

Making space for playtime is more complicated than it seems, because several planets are in hard-working Virgo and Taurus early in the month. Odds are good that in spite of the desire to play, you will need to mix work and pleasure early in September.

Helping the lighter side is romance-oriented Venus traveling through relationship-seeking Libra from Sept. 14 until Oct. 8. The practical manifestation of this happy combination is to help you improve all types of relationships. Reach out to meet new people and connect with old friends.

On the spiritual side, Venus is associated with healing and creating beauty in your life. Libra is esoterically tied to an energy called the violet flame, which alchemically transmutes low vibrations into higher, thus helping you live your life in a higher set of values. Create this higher balance by calling in the violet flame during your meditations. Wear something purple to soak in the frequency.

Neptune is one of the planets associated with the color purple. Intuitively sensitive people have been feeling Neptune for several months now. It is the feeling that some illusive new project has been calling you from beyond the veils of this material world, but you have not been able to see it clearly. This has caused feelings of ambivalence or a sense of walking through the fog.

There is nothing wrong with you. Neptune works by dissolving your neat little box of perceived limitations and boundaries. Surrender your need to know what to do for now. This visionary planet helps you burst illusions and move into a new clarity beginning next February.

For the next several months, clean up and/or release any old issues that started in 1998 to 1999. Dreamy Neptune is now finishing its 14-year trip through socially inventive Aquarius (think Facebook, LinkedIn and Meetup). It may simply be that you have lost your passion for specific areas of your life. The next several months help you make space for your new vision to come forth.

The autumnal equinox on Sept. 23 motivates this clearing process. An astrology chart cast for the next three months shows the energizing Sun opposing revolutionary Uranus. When the Sun was last pushing Uranus at spring equinox, Japan received a serious wake-up call with a devastating earthquake and tsunami.

At the same time, “let go and let God” Pluto challenges the status quo. Using the hermetic principle of “as above, so below,” the same things going on in the world and in the U.S. Congress are going on in your life. There is a battle between old-school Capricorn and progressive Uranus revolutions.

Look at where you are attempting to play it safe and not make needed changes, and that part of you that knows you cannot keep going on the path you are currently walking. Be patient with the give-and-take process because some of this energy continues until 2015.

Autumn brings plenty of action, especially if you have natal planets in Libra, Aries or Capricorn. The challenge is to maintain flexibility because the zodiac signs representing adaptability are largely missing. Avoid my-way-or-the-highway attitudes in all your relationships, because that approach will certainly lead to hard-headed endings.

The full moon on Oct. 12 helps you restructure your boundaries. Be willing to stand up for yourself and claim your wisdom and authority. Pay attention to emotional impatience because those impulses are telling you that you are ready for a new level of emotional support. Avoid change for the sake of change. Instead, make a long-term plan that supports your emotional balance.

The new moon just before Halloween holds an abundance of fixed signs (Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and Leo). These signs help you survive the tough times, but you must remember to bend like the willow. Surrender that which is not in your control to a higher power. Be willing to ask for help.

To end on a happy note: The weekend leading into Halloween is under the influence of a Sagittarius moon. The sign of the archer loves a good party. Oct. 28 adds fuel to the fire with extra action from expansive Jupiter. The thunder god doesn’t do anything small, so pay attention to any tendencies to overdo, overspend or wake up next to a total stranger.
