Editor's Journey 2011: Return to Balance

Step 2: Affirm Your Commitment to Peace

The divine feminine has always been present in the world, but she’s been hidden — in the night of the moon’s energy, in the womb of creation in each mother and in the fertile fields of Mother Earth.

Since the 20th Century began, three streams of divine feminine energy have been slowly returning to change the world’s mindset: compassion versus domination, nurturing versus betrayal and strength versus corruption. In 2011, a fourth divine feminine energy is emerging: balance versus power. This final energy completes the four pillars of the divine feminine way: compassion, nurturing, strength and balance. Join us on the editor’s journey to create this new way of living.

Returning to balance takes six simple steps: 1) Open to the balanced heart. 2) Affirm your commitment to peace. 3) Remember the inner warrior. 4) Create a new personal balance paradigm. 5) Practice the way of compassion. 6) Celebrate the reunion of the masculine and feminine.

Today, your task is to affirm your commitment to peace. Peace, which can seem so unattainable globally and personally, is best known by feeling it deeply in your heart. World peace is a noble goal, but inner peace is attainable right now. A peaceful heart at rest and at work radiates a unique glow, a glimmering radiance of soft green light. The heart chakra represents the center of your being, and a peaceful heart is afire with active healing energy. This glimmering light moves out from your being, touching all you meet.

When you actively shine the living light of peace from your heart, you become an everyday peace maker. The key to healing others through the peace in your own heart is simple: give your peace freely through thoughts, words and deeds throughout the day.

Try this today: When you wake up in the morning, feel the peace of a deep, restful sleep fill your heart. Breathe deeply, filling your heart center with the radiance of peace. As you move through your daily tasks, take a moment to stop and breathe in that light of peace. Then focus on a friend, coworker or family member. Imagine this person wrapped in a golden orb. Say from your heart, Peace be with you, and let your light shine around this person. Feel the peace in your heart activating peace in the other person.

When the going gets tough during the day, actively choose peace to guide you through the situation. For example, if you have a conflict with a coworker, rather than stewing in anger or resentment, take a deep breath and tap into your morning feeling of peace. Move into your heart center and let this peace become you. Listen to your heart, asking yourself, What would peace do? Let the answer or feeling wash through you. Staying in your heart center, let peace guide you to resolution, whether it’s visualizing your coworker surrounded by peace, or by extending the olive branch and resolving your conflicts.

When expressed through the divine feminine energy of balance, peace is strength personified, and it comes from a strong sense of right living. Balance may require that you peacefully end a relationship, bring a strong presence of peaceful resolution to a difficult situation or even stand up for yourself in a powerful yet peace-loving way.

Declare your commitment to peace by affirming: Peace begins with me. I open my heart of peace to all I meet. I am strong, I am peaceful, I am love.
