Autumn Relief and Revisioning

The planetary energies of summer were intense, and now it’s time for some relief. With mental planet Mercury in its disruptive retrograde cycle until Sept. 12, now is a good time to relax and review the activities of your life over the past four months.

Summer brought new seeds of ideas and the stimulus for changing behavior patterns through the planetary pattern called a T-square. For example, the Gulf oil disaster brought up anger, the need to change behavior patterns on many levels, and advances in technology that will stimulate changes for years to come.

This motivational alignment of heavy duty planets included explosive Uranus, rule-changing Saturn and “burn your bridges behind you” Pluto. Outer solar system planets create paradigm shifts at the very foundation of who you think you are.

For autumn, the grinding energy relaxes to let your body catch up with the stimulus that rattled your consciousness. It is time to let the pressures settle down within you, until it is time for them to be reactivated again in early 2011 (you didn’t think you were done, did you?).

To accomplish this, freedom-oriented Uranus and expansive Jupiter both move backward into gentle Pisces. They gave you a preview of their intensity in impulsive Aries over the summer, and will return to the pioneering sign again next year. At that time, you will have the courage to implement some of the ideas that are currently formulating in your imagination.

Uranus has been in Pisces since 2003, so you must now complete and release those aspects of your life that you do not want to carry into the next seven years. Pisces is associated with the visioning process, spiritual healing, dream time, intuition, music, compassion and forgiveness. If you have been holding illusions (such as my partner will change, I’ll win the lottery), autumn presents the opportunity to let go and heal in preparation for a surge forward in 2011.

Make time this autumn for the creative visioning process to dream up your emerging reality. Keep in mind that you live in an unlimited universe, and much more is possible than your current state of mind can see. Allow room in your mind’s eye for that mustard seed-sized space to bring forth your unseen good.

Take the message from Albert Einstein to heart. He said that the current set of problems cannot be changed with the same level of thought that created them. You benefit from autumn energies by allowing your thought patterns to drift outside the proverbial box, opening space for new visions to come forth.

Schedule creative or “do nothing” time near the autumnal equinox on Sept. 22. A chart cast for the three months following shows the emotional moon aligned with Uranus and Jupiter in Pisces.

When a person gets too busy in their intellectual world, the moon in a chart pulls the person back into balance — oftentimes by throwing a hissy-fit. Rather than catching a cold to get some time off, make time for your emotions at some watery place (the ocean, a hot tub spa). Your emotions demand equal time with intellect and your “to do” list.

Equinox energies this year support stretching out to meet new friends and open to new groups, especially those that are aligned with your philosophical views. Relationship energies are also strong this autumn as sensual Venus and sexual Mars combine energies.

All types of relationships are up for review as Venus begins its retrograde cycle on Oct. 8, lasting through Nov. 18. And it isn’t just your personal relationships that are changing — your relationship to your money and values is up for review. Because the planet of love and money only turns backward every 18 months, its effects are much more profound than the more commonly known and frequently occurring Mercury retrograde cycle.

Invest time in your quiet, inner self this autumn. Venus retrograde helps you get in touch with that which you truly value. Uranus, completing seven years in Pisces, helps you decide where you need to free up space in your life so that you will have the energy to pioneer new paths next year.

Jupiter is the god of good fortune and the transformer of belief systems. As he retrogrades into psychic Pisces until Jan. 22, you can tune into the higher vision that your spirit wants to bring forth.

Autumn is the time to heal, release and open to new visions. Gather any lost energy that became scattered last summer, or simply make peace with the part of you that is overburdened or annoyed with the world. It is not time to make a major push forward, but to gather the strength to do so in the not so distant future.
