Who's Afraid of the Big T-Square?

Have you been wondering if we have finally reached the end of times? With earthquakes, volcanoes, exploding oil platforms and the summer fire season just getting under way, can Armageddon be far behind? But we ain’t seen nothing yet folks as the intensity builds to a peak this summer.

Rather than take a fearful perspective, astrologers have been anxiously awaiting the planetary alignments of July and August for the past two years. The heavy-duty planets of transformation and revolution have been not so quietly lining up in a pattern that looks like the letter “T” if you connect the dots between them.

This challenging T-square relationship between paradigm-busting planets catalyzes your belief and behavior patterns to expand your consciousness. The action-oriented signs of Aries, Libra and Capricorn are all grinding on each other to help you pioneer a new path by restructuring your life. Because major planets are moving into the early degrees of these signs, you are just getting an initial shove in the right direction now.

It is like the first buds of spring, where you know that something is blooming but you can’t quite tell what it is at the beginning. The seeds that you plant this summer will take a definitive form by spring 2011.

The trick is that you must begin the process now, without first knowing what it is going to be. In effect, you must trust your connection to your deep, inner source to take action without knowing what that action is going to produce.

Although this sounds like double talk right now, there is a quiet part within you that knows certain parts of your life need to change. It’s just the “what” and the “how” part that is illusive. You don’t need to worry about that now, because the last week of July and the first two weeks of August will shake up your reality.

Uranus and Jupiter recently moved into fiery Aries for the summer. Uranus is associated with unexpected changes, explosions, revolutions, inventions, the internet and freedom. Jupiter rules your belief systems and will require you to take a leap of faith — but the god of thunder doesn’t do anything quietly or small. As they line up in impatient Aries, you must gather the courage to take a giant step in a new direction.

At the same time, Saturn has moved into the opposite sign of Libra. Where Uranus wants to throw the baby out with the bath water and start fresh, Saturn is patient and demands you sacrifice in the short term for the long term good. Are you beginning to feel pulled between opposites yet?

Saturn requires honesty in all your interactions, be it love, work or family. You have the opportunity to reinvent the way you operate within your relationships. But if that person in your life needs three more incarnations to make necessary changes, do you have three more lifetimes to give?

Pluto serves as the fulcrum point for your decision. This transformative planet rules deep and powerful emotions. Think of the volcano that is quiet on the outside, but inwardly seething with molten lava until one day it blows.

Obsessive feelings and behaviors are a lower expression of Pluto, so watch out for road rage or groups of people waiting for a spark to ignite their hidden anger at the injustice of it all. On the high side, you can finally burn your bridges behind you and transform your life. Pluto helps you make the core changes that you have been wanting for so long.

As the energies of summer pull you in three directions simultaneously, you have a choice to make. It’s not so much the choice of what to do next, but whether you will move through these planetary shifts in disarray or in grace.

Since the changes are coming regardless of your choice, the most auspicious action is to make needed changes willingly. Living with some temporary disruption or upsetting a few people now is better than waiting until issues reach the explosive eruption point.

The way to open to healthy change is indicated through the zodiac sign of the July 11 solar eclipse, occurring in the sign that represents nurturing. Cancer is one of four action signs, creating a cross shape with the forming T-square of Aries, Libra and Capricorn.

Alice A. Bailey’s book Esoteric Astrology advises that these signs bring about cosmic awareness and transcendence. Step away from the busyness of your life for a few days this summer to nurture yourself and open to a cosmic vision for your next step.

Then you must trust your inner knowing to take action steps toward this vision. Because this pattern is just getting started, allow room for adjustment in the months ahead. Make yourself a priority and have some fun with the process.
