Waiting for an Answer

by Angelina Marino-Heidel

Angelina Marino-Heidel, a Portland-based artist, expresses a consciousness of community in her art. In her painting, Waiting for an Answer, which is on the cover of New Connexion, an everywoman illuminated by golden light calmly looks within.

Marino-Heidel works in several media, including painting, sculpture and murals. The process and results in each media feeds the others. She also works collaboratively on sculpture with her husband, Joel Heidel. They recently had a show entitled “Cirque” at the Sixth Street Gallery in Vancouver, which included 11 collaborative sculptures, several of Heidel’s sculptures and eight abstract acrylic paintings from Marino-Heidel’s “Bridge Music” series.

The core of Marino-Heidel’s artistic life continues to be reserved for self introspection, focusing on themes of spirituality, struggle and joy of life. In previous years, she worked largely from grace and spontaneous inspiration. Her work now is considered. She’s driven to discover and create new ways to communicate her own and collaborative visions.

Marino-Heidel’s commercial work includes clients such as Hewlett Packard, Oregon Children's Theatre and McGraw Hill (representation details at www.christineprapas.com). Visit www.artspa.us and angelina-marino.fineartamerica.com.
