Hurdling Toward a New Reality

The winds of change are once again upon us. It seems as though the steps we take toward the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012 keep getting bigger. If you are like many people, you are feeling exhausted and just wonder when it is going to end.
Well, the universe isn’t ganging up on you, making you question the wisdom of volunteering for service in this incarnation. Instead, it is helping you surrender your need to control your life so that something larger, and yet unseen, can be birthed.
From 2008 through 2010, three significant hurdles present themselves for your evolvement on planet Earth. The first was destroyer Pluto moving into foundation-building Capricorn. In 2008, slow-moving Pluto started the process by tearing down outdated material world foundations to build a new integrity for this global shift.
Although this brought economic discomfort to many people, the consciousness of humanity could no longer hold up structures that did not work (such as real estate loan policies and rising gas prices). Pluto’s work is not nearly finished, but it is time to bring forth the second hurdle.
Saturn has mostly completed its run through cleansing Virgo (it started September 2007) and just entered Libra on Oct. 29. Saturn in Virgo helped you simplify your life and to clarify your priorities. Except for a brief final Virgo clean-up party in the spring of 2010, harmonizing Libra is the new energy operating in your life. Libra is associated with relationships, balance, peace, justice, beauty, kidneys and adrenals.
On the practical world level, your relationships are changing — and that means all types of relationships. Committed relationships that are no longer on solid footing must face the reality of change. They can either restructure themselves into a relationship that works at a higher functioning level, or they must be released. This is as true for business and family relationships as it is for your love life.
Because Saturn and Pluto are in a challenging 90 degree square relationship, you are motivated to address the issues in spite of their complexity. All of the characteristics of Libra mentioned above are up for change, be it your love life, a kidney cleanse or the legal system of society.
On a spiritual level, Libra is associated with the violet flame and the alchemical work of the master Saint Germaine. The incoming energy helps you become an alchemist yourself. However, instead of turning lead into gold, you learn to transmute darkness into light energy. Saturn teaches you to discipline yourself and Libra helps you to create a new reality.
This transmutation energy is just giving you hints of the work it wants to do. Before the heavy duty work begins next summer, you must revise your actions. This is represented by ambitious Mars turning retrograde from Dec. 20 through March 10, 2010.
Mars will be retrograde in the royal sign of Leo. If your heart is not in the actions you are taking (such as work and relationships), then this cycle will straighten you out. Positively, Leo opens your heart and helps you lead a heart-centered path. If you fight the natural changes ahead, you could very well end up in a drama queen/king soap opera.
Since Mars turns retrograde during the holidays, the most practical manifestation is ego-driven anger. Don’t people realize that you were a king or queen in a past life? How dare they! Pay attention to the inner source of feelings of anger or resentment at the end of this year. Direct those feelings into healing and exercise. Give angry people extra space and steer clear of road rage.
Leo also likes to have fun, so you can improve difficult situations by bringing in the playful part of your being. See through the outer crust of difficult people to find their inner spark of the divine.
Of quick note: Communications planet Mercury is retrograde from Dec. 26 until Jan. 15. Holiday travelers would be wise to double check travel reservations and allow for delays or schedule changes. Take quiet time to rethink your goals and make a flexible plan for the New Year.
A good time to do this would be near Dec. 31 when there is an emotional lunar eclipse. There will be some sadness as the year ends, but this will help you get clear in your emotional needs, and shall we say, “Don’t need this anymore!”
Overall, the major energy of Saturn moving into Libra establishes the second hurdle in a three-step plan that culminates next summer. Your life is going to change dramatically in the summer of 2010, so take steps to put your life into balance now. And remember, it is a good thing.
