September/October 2009 Starscope
Starscope

This autumn has many astrological events simultaneously pulling us back and moving us forward. Mercury is turning retrograde from Sept. 6 to 29, moving from Libra to Virgo. You'll find yourself indecisive: either your facts are wrong or you just aren't able to mentally process it all. Yet while we've all been down on our luck and stuck for the last few months, relief is here. Jupiter turns direct again on Oct. 12, and we'll have all good things in all good time. On Oct. 29, Saturn enters Libra, where it will be exalted until 2012. Now that we've had years of breakdown, it's time for a restructuring of our relationships and society. It will be painful but positive in the long run.
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
There's a change you've been wanting to make in a primary relationship, but don't take the initiative just yet - not all the chess pieces have finished moving into place. By waiting until October, your motives will be seen as healthy instead of impulsive. The next few years will be exciting for you socially. If you can give up your need to control, you may just find that certain someone to give you the balance you've been craving.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
It's time to start taking care of your health, dear Taurus. You need a balanced diet. Not only will your body get what it needs to be well, but your spirit is starving and eating well helps you feel happy. The upcoming year will work wonders for your career - network, network, network. It's all about what you can contribute to others, not what they can do for you.
Gemini (May 21 - June 21)
You've had a lot of fun this summer, and now it's time to focus on the home front. In October, take care of the details you've been putting off, whether it's cleaning out the garage or cleaning up your relationship with your mother. In the next few years, start a journey of exploration about the role others play in your happiness. If you're considering a global adventure, creative self-expression or starting a family, you'll receive bountiful blessings.
Cancer (June 22 - July 22)
Family is clamoring for your attention, crabby. While you see yourself as working hard to support your home, your loved ones haven't gotten that message. You've got some luck coming your way - either a windfall of money or some welcome changes in your home. Exercise some discipline to be sure the baggage you're still carrying from the past doesn't interfere with how you manage what's ahead.
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
For someone as gregarious as you, putting your foot in your mouth will carry extra discomfort - after all, you don't mean to be hurtful. After the Mercury retrograde, any home improvement you do should not just be functional, but aesthetic too - don't cut corners. You are about to enter a phase of self-expression. If you're considering a structured career in writing, performing or teaching, the next few years will be delightful for your relationships.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
For once, what's most important in your life should be you. Have a garage sale in September and clean out the clutter. Then follow with a spiritual housecleaning too. In upcoming years, pursue a career or volunteer in a health or service-related field. You will actually receive monetary compensation for sticking to your values and working from the goodness in your heart.
Libra (September 23 - October 23)
Spend some time analyzing how you see yourself, and how your words influence how others perceive you. Try alternative ways of verbalizing the same thing and observe the effects of each phrasing. This introspection will guide you into the next few years so that you enjoy your journey. What's next? Your self-imposed limitations will transform into self-discipline, allowing you to achieve your soul's purpose.
Scorpio (October 24 - November 22)
How come you feel lonely even when surrounded? Perhaps you're projecting your angst, and you're the one who's maintaining the distance. While you're certainly unique, that doesn't put you above everyone else. For maximum growth in the next few years, start by forgiving yourself for having a dark side, and embrace what makes you balanced and whole instead of manipulative. Then be fair and suspend all judgments about your family.
Sagittarius (November 23 - December 21)
While you have good intentions when you speak for the group, first take a deep breath and double-check whether you're filtering the situation through your own opinions. Over the next few years you will be unusually eloquent and inspirational in a quest for truth, justice and a new American way. So effective will you be, that someone will implement your ideas.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 20)
If you're experiencing unfairness in your workplace, don't speak out about it off the cuff. Gather information from your colleagues and put together a comprehensive report. You're about to take steps up the corporate ladder, so be sure to stay disciplined - you have great solutions on how to make the situation more equitable by taking into account people's emotions, along with the bottom line.
Aquarius (January 21 - February 19)
While you're itching to go back to school for retraining or to start a writing career, don't give up your job until you have something else firmly in place. Your identity of innovation will take you far over the next few years, and time spent teaching alternatives to the masses will tangibly define the new structure of our society. Develop a class series or write e-books, so that your efforts generate income.
Pisces (February 20 - March 20)
Don't be stopped by your frustrations. Remember that there's a cycle to life, and that your best tool is information. The most productive thing you can do in the next two years is to explore your motives, read books about psychology and take self-improvement classes to expand your possibilities. Pay special attention to your pattern of self-denial, and break out of your inhibitions.
