Using the letters of your name and the numbers of your birthday, cosmic numerology interprets the emotional and psychological characteristics you chose to experience in this lifetime and identifies your personal challenges and their solutions.

In classical numerology, the letters of a name and the birth numbers represent the patterns and timing of events to be experienced. In cosmic numerology, the soul consciously selects these letters and numbers. Focus is placed on the psychological and emotional characteristics that result from combining the letters and numbers of a name. Once the numeric sequence of someone's name and birth data is plotted and the soul-chosen challenges and solutions are overlaid, a picture of life-long behavior patterns emerges.

These patterns can be the triggers for illnesses, diseases, physical injuries and the activators of genetic predispositions such as diabetes or heart disease.

Start with Your Name

The name to be used for figuring all of your information is the name that appears on your birth certificate, unless you were adopted or went to court to legally change your name for a reason other than marriage. This is the name chosen by your soul to activate all events for this lifetime.

The Math

When you add the numeric total of all the letters in a word or series of words, you will usually get a multi-digit number. You will also often get a two-digit number when adding the numbers of a birth date. This individual numbers that make up a two- or three-digit number identify the underlying energies of a name, behavior, illness or injury. The numbers are always reduced to a single digit but are written with the two- and/or three-digit number as well. Let's look at an example: The numeric total for the word indigestion is 62. To reduce the word to a single digit, we add the 6 + 2 to get a sum of 8. The numbers for indigestion are written as 62/8.

Positive and Negative Numbers

Take the time to learn the positive and negative interpretations of the numbers 1 to 9. They will greatly assist you in understanding the nuances of your behavior patterns and illnesses.

1: Ego self

Positive: Self-directed, leader, paradigm buster.

Negative: Passive, aggressive, egocentric.

2: Communication and interaction with others

Positive: Sensitive, intuitive, cooperative.

Negative: Subservient, shy, overly sentimental.

3: Social interactions and acceptance of self and others

Positive: Joyful, witty, artistic.

Negative: Moody/emotional, unforgiving, scattered.

4: Procrastination, control and constrictions

Positive: Organized, architect, builder.

Negative: Prejudicial, a reactionary, a procrastinator.

5: Change and movement

Positive: Flexible, freedom loving, physical.

Negative: Rigid, impulsive, self-indulgent.

6: Responsibility to family, community and relationships

Positive: Responsible, advisor/counselor, protector.

Negative: Perfectionist, martyr, nosy.

7: Trust, skepticism and control

Positive: Trusting, spiritual, analytical.

Negative: Controlling, fearful, distrustful.

8: Power, money, control and status

Positive: Initiates/delegates/orchestrates, logical, a leader.

Negative: Easily frustrated, temperamental, extravagant/cheap.

9: Selflessness

Positive: Selfless, loves unconditionally, compassionate.

Negative: Egotistical, needs recognition/appreciation, has difficulty letting go.

0: Spirit

The zero (0) is the combination of the nine separate energies. A zero attached to any number indicated direct spiritual assistance with that energy. For example, the number 102 could indicate assistance in individual projects (1) that would be of benefit to the others (2).

Illness by the Numbers

Reflect on the relevance of the positive and negative qualities of the numbers for the illnesses below, and analyze the relationship between the disease numbers and your personal numbers.

Infection (50/5): Infection is the movement or spreading of negative energy into adjoining areas. An infection calls attention to what has been ignored. It calls for attentiveness and being present (5) in the moment. It also calls for self-confidence and being able to "let go" and move on.

Virus (26/8): Viruses are agents for change. They deal with issues of group sensitivity (2), personal responsibility (6) and individual consequences (8). Whether electronic or organic, viruses always affect groups. The appearance of a virus is a direct result of poor communication and shirking personal responsibility. As an agent for change, one of the functions performed by the virus is to strengthen an organism by terminating those life-forms that cannot change.

Addiction (43/7): Feelings of inadequacy and poor socialization skills (3), combined with a need to control the environment (4), lead these individuals into a state of mental, emotional or physical paralysis (7). The 7 total also indicates anxieties associated with abandonment, oversensitivity to the environment, and issues involving vulnerability and control.

Allergy (35/8): This involves power issues (8) and the need for flexibility, balance and moderation (5), and issues around communicating (3) feelings to others.

Cold (16/7): This illness often occurs during a time when responsibility can seem overwhelming (6), causing self-esteem issues to arise (1). This can lead to "forcing the issue" (16), which results in a form of paralysis that forces individuals to stop what they are doing (7).

Depression (52/7): Difficulty communicating feelings, oversensitivity (2), and an inability to move forward (5) can lead to a sort of mental, emotional or physical paralysis (7). Depressed individuals may feel they have not received sufficient recognition for their "contributions" or that they have no control (7) over the events of their lives.

Stress (19/1): Stress can be the result of putting everyone or everything else (9) ahead of the self (1) and resenting this or choosing to be emotionally isolated (1) from others by becoming a controller (9).
