How's Your Love Life?

It's time to get your relationships in order. Or perhaps a higher way of saying it is that it is time to create a new relationship paradigm. The partnership planet, Venus, is in her retrograde cycle from March 6 through April 17. Most people are familiar with the disruptive effects when Mercury is retrograde, but gentle Venus is more elusive to understand.

The silky goddess only gives the illusion of moving backward about every 20 months, so it is a bit harder to get a handle on her task than the thrice-annual Mercury retrograde. And this Venus cycle is even more difficult to assess because she reverses course through her least comfortable sign, Aries.

Whether you are already in relationship or seeking (or avoiding), spring fever is going to be strong this year. The stuck feeling of winter, a slow economy and the daily fear projected in the media will stimulate you into action this spring. This is not to say that the global problems will miraculously disappear, but it does suggest that you are ready to get moving in spite of outer conditions.

The current task is to create a harmonious blend between your relationship needs and your individuality needs. Venus is associated with love, marriage, money, luxury and things that are sweet. Aries wants to pioneer new paths, exercise and put forth a great deal of energy (although it tends to work best in short bursts).

Venus desires sensuality, Aries wants sex! Venus is a diplomat and Aries is a warrior. Together, you must assert your needs and desires without being pushy. The lesson is to cooperate with others without sacrificing your own needs.

On the higher level, you are learning to bring forth a new way of doing relationships. This is not limited to romance, but also includes work, family and other types of relationships. You must be kind to the people in your life, but stick up for yourself.

Relationships that are not willing to adapt will not survive. The days from March 12 to 21 are good for having friendly conversations with the relationships you need to put in balance. However, avoid issuing ultimatums unless you want them to go away (and if this is the case, find the peaceful Venus way of ending that which no longer works for you instead of allowing the situation to blow up).

The middle of April is especially volatile, so be careful to say what you mean rather than shooting off a quick, later to be regretted, remark. Tax time in 2009 also holds disruptive energy associated with accidents, earthquakes and revolutions. Do not force square pegs into round holes and watch your attitude with authority figures.

The positive spin on mid-April energy is that you can take actions to help bring your higher vision into physical manifestation. You gain clarity in all types of relationships if you are willing to be sensitive to the people in your life, truly listen, and be willing to adapt without sacrificing.

In short, the energies of March and April help you open to new ways of viewing and acting in relationships. By breaking with old patterns, you open to new ways to being in right relationship, both with yourself and others.

A fairly close alignment of three planets is now building up toward May and the rest of the year.

Expanding Jupiter is rushing to catch up to wounded-healer Chiron and illusion-bursting Neptune, all in Aquarius. The feeling is that you must hurry up and do something as Jupiter urges you to take a risk. Yet you still feel caught between a rock and a hard place with half-horse, half-human Chiron placing you on the bridge between worlds.

Add drifting-in-the-ethers Neptune to the mix, and you know that you are quickly on the road to somewhere - you just don't know where. You learn to trust your intuition under such an influence.

For now, allow yourself to feel the sensation of racing off into the unknown without judging it. There really is something wonderful just on the other side of the fog. Tend to your relationships now, and you will ride the cosmic surf into the unknown in May.
