The Wisdom of Your Face

by Jean Haner

Wisdom_of_FaceMost people have never heard of face reading, or if they have, they think it must be a party trick, or something to do with cosmetic surgery, or a way to categorize or manipulate people.

Actually, face reading is based on the same ancient foundation as acupuncture and Chinese medicine. There are still doctors in China today who can diagnose health issues simply by evaluating someone's face.

But the Chinese long ago recognized something that most Westerners are just now accepting: our bodies and our emotions are inextricably intertwined. The same information that a Chinese doctor can read on your face to analyze your physical health can also be used to reveal your inner emotional nature.

Chinese face reading can give you brilliant insights into why you are who you are - your personal strengths and challenges, the kind of work that will bring you joy and the relationships that will nourish you. It can explain why you seem to experience certain patterns in life - why you seem to end up dating the same kinds of people no matter how hard you try to make different choices, or have the same frustrations trying to earn enough money.

Face reading is easy and practical for our everyday lives. For instance, you can use it to get out of the grocery store faster by reading the faces of the checkout clerks to see who will work fast and efficiently. You can develop "eyes of compassion," and be able to look at others and know how they'll tend to think, feel and behave. This empowers you to view them with understanding and awareness rather than judgment or blame.

Changing Face

Everything you do to your face makes a change to your inner nature as well. Some cosmetic surgery can actually have a positive effect. For instance, if your have a chin implant, that can increase your determination, your ability to stand up to anyone's attempts to control or dominate you.

But there are aspects of features and even wrinkles on your face that have a positive meaning. These are often the ones that people change through cosmetic surgery, without being aware of how deeply they're impacting their lives. I'd love to release women from the pressure to meet limiting standards for appearance.

I think most people struggle all their lives, trying to figure out the answer to two essential questions: Who am I? What is my calling? There is a reason why you are here, and you have a special way to accomplish your calling in the world. Your face reveals what I sometimes call your "original design," something that has usually become hidden after years of living according to other people's expectations and judgments about who you should be. When you can rediscover your original design, you're empowered to live according to your true nature and you can fulfill your purpose in the world.

Check Out the Face in the Checkout Line

The wisdom of your face can be powerful for personal transformation, but it's also so useful in everyday life. For instance, you can use face reading to get out of the grocery store much more quickly - by reading the faces of the checkout clerks. You may have noticed it's not always the shortest line that moves the fastest.

Here is a simple example of how this can work: As you approach the checkout line, scan the faces of the cashiers. If you're in a hurry, avoid the line leading to a face like this: A round face shape overall, full plump cheeks, big round eyes, full lips or a large mouth, and plump body or round stomach.

This is not a bad person. Actually, he or she is absolutely lovely - very kind, caring and interested in people. But if you're in a hurry, you'll be in the slow line. They'll chat with each person, looking at the baby pictures in their wallets, talking about their recent vacation or bout of the flu, while you tap your foot.

If you spot a checkout line leading to a clerk who has a large well-defined jaw, thick eyebrows, a straight hairline like Brad Pitt's, and deep-set or narrowed eyes, this is the one to head for if you're in a hurry. They'll be quick, efficient and organized, which is what you need if you're in a rush to get home to cook dinner. However, if you're interested in a caring inquiry about how your day has been, head back to that other line.

Reading Relationships

When you can see by your boyfriend's eyebrows that he really does need to play basketball three times a week, it can save your relationship. And you can use face reading for on-line dating sites to know what each person is really like and find the person you desire.

Parents can also learn how to read the faces of their children, so they understand how to best support who that child truly is. I had a case recently where a child had very specific needs for nighttime rituals, and the mother thought he was just challenging her authority. Instead, what I read on his face was that this child was naturally more anxious and needed things just so in order to feel safe. Once the mother understood this, she created a more healing atmosphere for her child.

In business, you can be more successful with clients when you know how to immediately put them at ease. One woman realized she should have been taking more time to look at one client's family photos before getting down to business. This client's face showed he needed to have more of that kind of personal connection. Once she adjusted that one small thing, her work with this man totally transformed.

Face reading can reveal the easiest route to true and effective change, based on your specific personal needs, so you can move into a life that brings you the real happiness you deserve.
