Taking empowered action in November and December

In many spiritual circles, there is an emphasis on being rather than doing. In our hyper-productive culture, I heartily agree that we must reconnect to the essence of being. But there is a window right now to let both who we are and what we do unite in a healthy way. Breathing back our authority from deadening schedules, structures and institutions, we discover a new sense of power to transform our communities and the world.

Winter gives us time to clarify who we are. Aligning ourselves with the current dynamic influences of Pluto, Jupiter and Mars, we can each be prophets of the revolution. Let the destructive qualities of belief and religion fall away, becoming compost for liberation. We grasp how personal desires can lead us directly to meaningful work, if we are willing to let the fire burn away our illusions of identity and attachment to empty rituals. What dreams live within you that spell your own freedom and benefit the community as a whole?

Aries

The next month is a perfect time to ask for (and receive) help. Concealing what's happening only thwarts your goals. Allow ample time to process family upsets rather than reacting quickly. In December, reconsider your belief system. What makes your heart leap with joy? Open to the possibility that true strength relies on openness.

Taurus

How you gather information is blocking you from seeing what's really going on. Instead of listening to news radio, try tarot cards - or vice versa. Take yourself out of your comfort zone by joining a writing group, starting therapy or taking a class. These roads will lead you out of despair and into your authority. Your work is to accept healing from unexpected channels.

Gemini

Get clear about any illusions you harbor about your present job situation. Is it feeding you spiritually? Prepare for the new by practicing patience. Meditation and working with the earth element can assist you. In December, others who share your vision for the future want to collaborate to plant project seeds. Partnership can be both stable and liberating.

Cancer

Through November, volatile emotions are potent messengers about your unexpressed needs. Pay attention without getting pulled under. By late December, you are ready to release your reliance on others for answers. Like a spotlight from within, spirit is calling you to understand that your creativity is not impractical or selfish. Work with the element of fire for guidance.

Leo

Your creativity is flowing again, but beware of old burnout patterns. Set up a calm, restful home base so the winter can bring you new avenues of expression. With November's full moon, let go of your need to be in control, especially in groups. Practice naming others' gifts without diminishing your own power.

Virgo

It's time to get real about giving yourself the kind of nurturing you need. What role has obligation played in your chosen path? Spirit has challenged you to show your whole freaky self in public, and you've been making great strides. But even Mother Theresa's not immune to doubt. In December, remember that doubt is a healthy part of faith. Let it move through you.

Libra

Lately, you know exactly what you're talking about, even without considering all sides. You may feel nervous in groups, but fiercely communicating your vision will bring people closer rather than scare them off. The past is not the present. Shedding your expectations will lead to a new network of co-conspirators.

Scorpio

In November, focus on revealing yourself to loved ones. Are obstacles at work calling you to a higher purpose? Resolving family issues will help you see that purpose more fully. Surrender some comfort in order to have your needs truly met. As you step into the unknown, your self-confidence will deepen. Acting on behalf of the unseen, such as making offerings to the ancestors, yields new perspective.

Sagittarius

Your identity is unraveling. Partners and friends have insight. You have much to teach the world, but through December, continue this intense inner work. Reflect on the past 12 years and see what themes surface. Issues you thought resolved rise up again mid-December. Actions that help others can get you out of your own drama.

Capricorn

Give yourself a break and start trusting your intuition and synchronicity. In 2008, your perception will begin to shift, clarifying your values. These next few months, prepare for the big transformation by noticing how global affairs directly affect your inner wellbeing and health. Tend to the connections between mind, emotion and body.

Aquarius

Your own desire to serve humanity may be blocking your greatest gifts. In November, friends can offer clear insight about those gifts - so ask them. Surround yourself with beauty. Mid-December, people will look to you for ways to create genuine progress that benefits the commonality. Your practice is to engage the imagination without judgment.

Pisces

With Pluto beaming down from your midheaven, your ideas may seem controversial to your professional community. Don't run away. Engaging with people is the key to your success. Your fears will try to keep you away from the action. If you have to drag yourself to the meeting, do it. Just get there. Your work is to show up.
