Listening to America the Green

americathegreen.comGreen is in the air. South Dakota at 107 degrees. Monsoon-like flooding in the Northeast. The Greenland ice sheet melting twice as fast as five years ago. Suddenly the Earth has started to speak out and not so subtly. The question is: What can we do?

For communicators like Irv Weinberg, John Biethan and Carolyn Parrs, the answer was simple: create America the Green, a podcast they conceived right after viewing Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth. In the first two weeks of America the Green's launch, iTunes picked them up, featured their show and off they went with flying colors.

"What's needed are not just big solutions but many people doing small things that add up to big things," says Weinberg. "When enough people reach a critical mass of consciousness and don't leave it for the next guy or girl to do it for them, real change happens. It always does."

That's the mission of America the Green. Each week from Santa Fe, the team speaks up and out with green business leaders, local community activists and forward thinkers to create permanent, positive change through the greening of America.
