It was Sunday morning when my neighbor called. The newspaper delivery person had hit a baby skunk in front of her house. I went right over. The skunk was twisting and writhing in pain, his little leg crushed. I put a Humane Society-issued blanket over him to keep the wind and rain away and began to do Reconnective Healing around him. As I worked he became quiet and looking up at me, thanking me with his eyes. I stayed with him for an hour until someone came to release his spirit from his injured body.
It's not a dramatic healing story, but I'm filled with gratitude to be able to offer comfort and lessen the pain of one of the little creatures we often avoid. Healing isn't limited to scheduled sessions at convenient times. Healing comes when it is needed.
Though I have worked with healing all my life, I've never considered myself a healer, but rather a facilitator -- one who supports both people and the furry angels in aligning with what is for their highest good. I have been truly blessed to witness many miracles and to meet thousands of wonderful people and animals.
