Truth Heals: Dismantling the Lies that Make Us Sick

The truth of how I really felt and who I
really was began to surface when my boyfriend, Eric, now my husband, turned to
me and spoke my name and the word alcoholic
in the same sentence. It was the beginning of the end of lying. Alcoholics

began to crack open.

When I went to my first AA meeting, an early
morning one, I wore a pair of $800 cowboy boots, dressed to kill. I didn't
realize that was how most people showed up for the first time, totally together
on the surface when their lives lay in shambles behind the scenes.
I was extraordinarily impressed with AA;
people were being so violently honest.
They were telling the truth. Just laying it out there without artifice. I had
never told the truth in my entire life. Never.
It would take me years to stop lying and to start telling the truth.
The fifth energy center, located at the
throat, is primarily associated with creative expression, and its key theme is speaking the truth-expressing who we
are, what we feel and what we believe-whether through verbal or nonverbal
communication.
Sound comes through the throat and enables
expression through spoken words and the songs we sing. We manifest how we live,
what we wear, what we eat, what our dreams are, by giving them voice in the
throat. Choice gives voice to your desires, and, in turn, your voice expresses
your choice.
It is said that choice and voice are
actually the "messengers" of the fifth energy center.
The fifth chakra is connected to the throat,
neck, shoulders, mouth, jaw and teeth, as well as to the nasal sinuses, vocal
chords, trachea and esophagus, cervical vertebrae and ears. The thyroid,
parathyroid, and the hypothalamus, which control the automatic nervous system,
are also located here. When this area is out of balance, conditions can arise,
such as:
- TMJ
in the jaw
- Swollen
glands in the throat, throat cancer
- Neck
problems
- Chronic childhood tonsillitis
- Hypo- and hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis, thyroid cancer, Hashimoto's, Grave's disease
- Chronic sinus problems
- Any
disorders of the throat, voice, mouth, teeth or gums
Thyroid conditions typically arise after a
physical or emotional crisis. The butterfly-shaped thyroid gland that sits in the
front of the neck regulates the body's metabolism. Synthetic thyroid-allopathic
medicine's solution for thyroid deficiency-is among the top three most
frequently prescribed drugs in the United States today.
Perhaps not coincidentally, thyroid conditions
are more prevalent in women than men by a ratio of five to one, no doubt
because women are more suppressed culturally in speaking their truth.
A healthy and balanced fifth energy system is
at one with the concept of divine will. Divine will is a powerful force of
spiritual energy from higher dimensions that can awaken new consciousness and
realizations in your life.
