The Lighter Side of Toothbrushing
Light-activated toothbrushes are lighting the way to healthier teeth and
a cleaner environment.
The Soladey toothbrush looks like a regular toothbrush, except that it
holds a titanium
oxide metal rod in its handle. When exposed to any type of light source, the
photo-sensitive titanium rod releases ions, which permeate the saliva to break
down plaque on a molecular level. This natural ionic chemical reaction separates the
plaque from teeth enamel, and removes tobacco, coffee and other stains using
the natural attraction of ions.
The Soladey technology works like a room
ionizer, which also produces ions. Plaque has positively charged particles called
positive ions. When the titanium rod reacts with light, it acts like a magnet, creating
negative ions that attract the positive ions. The plaque breaks up, washing
away when you rinse.
Based on clinical studies done in Canada and
Japan, the Soladey toothbrush significantly eliminates plaque more effectively
than a manual or electric toothbrush, without the use of toothpaste or dental
floss. Soladey has also been
shown to be effective against gingivitis, bacteria and bad breath.
Because no toothpaste or water is needed for brushing, Soladey
manufacturers claim that these light-activated toothbrushes could save 1.9
trillion liters of clean drinking water annually. The toothbrush handle and titanium
rod are long lasting and use replacement bristle heads, cutting down packaging
waste generated by conventional toothbrushes.
Soladey toothbrushes retail for $29.95 at www.soladey-usa.com.
