Creating a Bridge Between Life and Spirituality

Vicky Thompson
As we enter this season of light and rebirth, I am delighted to join New Connexion as editor on a team dedicated to serving the Pacific Northwest spiritual community.

As a long-time reader and contributor to New Connexion, I appreciate its value to readers as a resource for new ideas on health and healing, spiritual practices, and products and services for conscious living. I'm looking forward to continuing this tradition of service to the community, as well as introducing new features in the publication.

My own spiritual rebirth occurred just after moving to the Portland area seven years ago. My soul was awakened by the natural beauty and energy of the Pacific Northwest, leading to the publishing of two books-The Jesus Path: 7 Steps to a Cosmic Awakening and Life-Changing Affirmations. Writing and editing are my passion, and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to use my energy to serve others in the community.

We live in a unique area here in the Northwest. The energy of the landscape feels much like the heart center chakra in our energy bodies. This heart bridge is very much alive in our community. In the heart chakra, the power of love links the lower physical chakras with the upper spiritual chakras. As a community, we use the bridge of love to walk between the mundane everyday world into a deeper inner world where we see and know others as their true selves. By looking deeper, we see beyond the human suffering of life. We see the spiritual being dwelling within, asking that this deeper source of wisdom guide us to right actions in right alignment with our divine path.

On my own spiritual journey, I have discovered the path of the everyday mystic - one guided by spirit, yet rooted in pragmatism. I am terribly practical, always looking for ways to integrate spirituality into everyday life. I've discovered a rubber-hits-the-road type of mysticism for leading a spirit-driven life. This do-it-yourself spirituality means just that: do it, explore it and live it by putting your spiritual passions and religious teachings to work.

In upcoming issues, Editor's Viewpoint will focus on practical ways to live as a spiritual being in everyday life. From my vantage point, I hope to serve others by providing simple ways to reconnect with your inner heart.

As you move through the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, remember the deeper meaning of this time of year: the rebirth of light. Old family wounds can rise to the surface during the holidays, obscuring the light dwelling in others. Take a new vantage point by stepping out of yourself, viewing the situation as if you were perched on the stairs looking down on the moment. Envelop all beings in light, removing the labels of mother, father, daughter and son, and see all simply as human. All humans desire to be loved and recognized. See the light, and let love be your bridge.

Many blessings on your journey,

Vicky Thompson
