A Growing Wave of Peace

The old message-in-a-bottle style communication has gone high tech for peace. ThePeaceWave.org, a grassroots organization, uses unique passalong cards and Internet tracking to spread the message: Now is the time to unite the world through peace and unity.

A passalong card is an inspiring illustrated business card-sized greeting card that is passed along from person to person, creating enthusiasm about spreading peace. The cards feature quotes from well-known peace advocates, from Mahatma Gandhi to Bob Marley.

The PeaceWave cards feature a unique ID number on the back that allows you to go online and track the journey of each card. You can create and track your own family tree of PeaceWave cards. More than 700,000 passalong cards are in circulation in over 80 countries.

Earthdance International, the Global Festival for Peace, is helping to sponsor ThePeaceWave.org. In Portland, Earthdance will host a music and dance festival for peace on Sept. 15-17. The highlight of the Earthdance event is a synchronized prayer for peace, uniting all 250 festival locations in 50 countries.
