Fall Transitions: Enhancing Compassion and Service

It’s time to shift into high gear with September’s two eclipses leading the way. A new energetic tone based upon the mutable signs has been building since last March.

Mutable signs are Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius and Gemini. Regardless of your Sun sign, these adapting and flexing signs are present in your birth chart. You can make your life easier this autumn if you are willing to bend like the willow.

The spiritual growth characteristics of mutable signs, as given by Djwal Kuhl in Alice Bailey’s book Esoteric Astrology, suggest that you must 1) transform your animal behavior into that of the spiritual aspirant, 2) blend your soul with your personality so that you are a fully integrated human being (the personality ego yields to the soul), and 3) develop a sense of fluidity to adapt to constantly changing environments that come with the whirlpools and eddies of this swirling energy.

This transition steps into overdrive beginning with the Pisces-Virgo Lunar Eclipse on September 7. Lunar eclipses dredge up hidden emotions. Pisces bursts the illusions in your life, helping you expand your intuition. Virgo releases judgment and/or self judgment, freeing you to provide greater service.

Autumn equinox comes just a few hours after the September 22 Solar Eclipse in Virgo. The moon at its furthest point from the Earth (apogee) asks you to pay attention to any feelings of being disconnected, unloved or depressed. Honor these emotions by strengthening your connection to Source through meditation. Cleaning your closets helps, too.

You are given the opportunity to put your life in balance. Equinox planets are highly concentrated in the signs Virgo, Libra and Scorpio. You mission for the next three months is to open to new ways to serve, to more fully express your loving nature and to go to a much deeper level of understanding.

Reduce any excessive voice of the ego. Dampen that nagging voice that thinks the new car, the next relationship or that something needs to happen before you can experience fulfillment and joy. The timely release of the movie The Peaceful Warrior advises that life is all about service, characteristics of Pisces and Virgo.

This is not to say that you cannot have those new possessions and relationships—you are divinely connected to the abundant storehouse of unlimited creative energy. However, serving the mission that your soul came to provide will no longer play second fiddle to the trappings of the world. Autumn planetary energies amplify this need to step into a higher service.

Read your Sun and rising signs below to get a hint about how the Sept. 22 solar eclipse will help you step into higher forms of service.

Aries: Although humdrum routines are not your favorite things to do, you would benefit greatly by pulling back to tend to those chores that you were going to get around to one of these days.

Taurus: Like the old song says, “Whistle while you work.” Open your creative and playful side to have some fun while you are accomplishing your projects.

Gemini: Bring a group of people into your home to discuss important topics or send long distance healing to the world. Either that, or clean your file cabinet and sell some books!

Cancer: Organize a class or potluck for a group that serves some greater good in the world. Create a safe environment for people who are ready to take a risk on themselves.

Leo: Get your money and possessions in order. Explore options to manifest your material world needs in an easier way.

Virgo: Give yourself more credit for all your efforts. Diet, exercise and physical appearance need to be upgraded.

Libra: Your intuitive, spiritual and meditative side needs more time. As a social sign, Libras now need to associate with people that are in philosophical harmony.

Scorpio: You can help some friends, associations or organizations to clean up their act. Release fears that prevent you from achieving your ideals, and make note that those ideals are changing under your feet.

Sagittarius: The minister in you needs to step into public view and take responsibility for getting something important done (not just telling others what they need to do).

Capricorn: Help someone in some distant location, be it a child in the Sudan or the next earthquake zone. Travel or expand to other regions.

Aquarius: Help set others free of the fears that hold them back. Open to a new vision and allow others to help you, even if it does not manifest exactly as you envisioned.

Pisces: Be clear in your partnership needs and communications. Good relationships get better, and relationships that have been hanging out in the fogbank … well, the fog is clearing!
