Body, Mind and Breath

Swami Shuddhananda Brahmachari developed the Simple Art of Managing Stress (SAMS) because he observed stress intensifying in every dimension of life today. The greater the stress, the greater the constriction of the breath and the heart, the less the Self is available to inform the lives we live.

SAMS uses Yogic principles to focus on the body, mind and breath that are your primary tools for transformation, for life itself. When you stretch them, your whole being expands. The SAMS stretching and breathing exercises work at the deepest level of your life force energy, to change habitual patterns of physical, emotional and mental disharmony. They correct energetic imbalances which are very subtle in our bodies. They work on the nervous system to give it strength and the power to withstand the inevitable shocks of life.

Pranayama, the ancient science of the breath, reaches the deep, primordial ocean of universal creative energy, which is always present and available. Yet the immense power of the breath to calm the mind, to generate well being and creativity, is little understood and goes virtually untapped. SAMS is working to change that. People who have suffered severe depression their entire life say their mental torment has stopped with 15-20 minutes of daily practice. Not many other stress programs can effect change of that magnitude.
