Good Vibrations

by Bernadette Baker

Last summer, people were buzzing about the independent film called "What the Bleep Do We Know?" Masaru Emoto, the Japanese water scientist whose work was featured in this Indy movie hit, tests water’s sensitivity and reaction to words, music, emotions, and other energetic vibrations. Through this research Emoto found that water exposed to positive vibration, or "hado," creates beautiful water crystals, while water exposed to negative vibration creates poorly formed or incomplete crystal structures.

The basic concept of water’s receptivity to hado and the implications for humans are explored in the movie and in Emoto’s first book, The Hidden Messages in Water, which was on The New York Times bestseller list for over 20 weeks. But what we really want to know now is how to apply this knowledge to our own lives. These questions are answered in Emoto’s second bestseller, The True Power of Water. In this new book, Emoto takes his water research one step further by delving into the power to manipulate hado to change the water in our bodies and in our lives.

Certain elements of Emoto’s research are obvious: if a=b, and b=c, then a=c; so if water is sensitive to vibration, and humans are made up of 70% water, then humans are sensitive to vibration. This means that if we, humans, are exposed to negative hado or vibrations, the water in our bodies (including the water in our blood, our vital organs, our skin, etc.) is negatively affected. In The True Power of Water, Emoto explains techniques of measuring the various vibrations of the body at a cellular level. Thus, the frequency of different aspects of the body can essentially be translated and imbalances can be identified vibrationally.

"When the cellular vibrations in different parts of the body are disturbed due to various reasons," Emoto explains, "our body can make a wrong turn." So negative hado disrupts our intrinsic or natural vibration. This disruption can lead to sickness, chronic illness, and a general decrease in quality of life. The body operates at maximum efficiency at its natural frequency. Any other frequency can disturb and transform the body.

In 1991, Dr. Yoshio Yamasaki presented his sound research at the International Symposium on Active Control of Sound and Vibration. Dr. Yamasaki found that he could create a soundless space anywhere by using a method that counteracts, or rather cancels noise. You may have heard about this technology through Bose sound systems. "Be it music or human voice, each has an intrinsic wave. The basic principle of this new silencing method is to examine the shape of the peaks and valleys of a sound (wave)… and to produce the opposite wave shape of the peaks and valleys" thus canceling the noise. When two opposite sound waves are put together like puzzle pieces, they cancel each other out and no noise is heard.

In terms of health implications, Emoto suggests that an opposing vibration "can be given to the disturbed cell so as to resonate with it; thus, its intrinsic vibration is restored." If it is known that health can be restored by exposing disturbed cells to opposite, balancing frequencies, the only question left is, where does the disturbance come from?

In 1995, Emoto measured the hado of the 38 most commonly shared emotions including: stress, worry, pressure, excess, fear, irritability, and perplexity, and the part of the body that resonated with these emotions. Emoto noticed that similar diseases share similar characteristics. The True Power of Water reveals Emoto’s findings about how to recognize, treat, and restore intrinsic vibration to certain areas of the body. The practice of restoring positive frequencies in the body for health is known as "hado technology."

Prior to his water crystal research, Emoto worked with over 10,000 people to help them restore health and imbalances in the mind, body, and spirit. Through showing people how to positively influence the hado in their own bodies, he discovered that certain foods carry a higher or more positive hado. In The True Power of Water, the hado values of fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds, fish, and meat are broken down into easy to read tables to help readers influence and manifest health and positive hado in their lives. True Power also offers insight on the negative and positive effects of using certain electronic devices such as cellular phones and PCs, and features 64 full-color photos of water crystals and research methods that display the power of positive hado.

Emoto emphasizes that "the water crystal is the physical manifestation of vibration," and that "if we dialogue with water with a positive attitude and with respect, water will definitely change…The water in your body can also change."

Whether you begin by saying Emoto’s mantra to your water:

We Love Water.

We Thank Water.

We Respect Water.

or by simply reading this book and improving the quality of hado in your food intake, you are certain to notice a change in your body and life.

Dr. Emoto’s books were originally published in English by NW publisher Beyond Words who has now co-ventured with Simon and Schuster’s Atria Books to widen the distribution of Emoto’s message. Masaru Emotos next book, The Secret Life of Water, will be published in late November (ISBN: 0-7432-8982-X) Atria Books, $22.95 hardcover.
