The book starts off by giving a description of who the Indigo Children are, and what makes them so unique. Indigo Children can be recognized by their high intelligence, intuitiveness, creativity, and energy. They are also can have trouble "fitting in," can be depressed, and in deep emotional pain. After-school programs, counseling or medication may be helpful and valid, but these approaches do not address the spiritual wounds that cause many Indigo Children to feel out of place in this world.
Through the use of spiritually healing games and activities we are given hope and practical instruction. These activities help them to bridge the gap between their vision of perfection in the wildly imperfect world in which they live.
Wayne and Ellen Dosick also offer parents of children who have been diagnosed with ADHD, ADD and ODD a chance to reconsider their views of modern medicine and the ideas of medicating their children. Traditionally medication has been used to help manage these children but Wayne and Ellen suggest that the activities in their book have potential to be life transforming and may help to ease the pain and anguish they experience. Emotional wounds such as anger, fear, shame and other's are said to exist within these children and can be healed through these fun, interactive, engaging games.
The book does a wonderful job of pointing out that most of the attempts made to heal these children have been made on rational and intellectual level. But the pain these children experience is on the spiritual, energetic level and that is where the healing should take place. Parents and children play games that take the shape of sacred ritual, to bridge the gap between how they intuitively perceive the world, and the experience of the pain and unjustness surrounding them. I have found this book extremely simple yet amazingly knowledgeable with step by step instructions on how to spiritually heal your Indigo child (or the Indigo in you) and allow them the space to come into the fullness of their purpose..
