Spoon Bending With Their Minds
A first hand account
by Heather Teach
Last summer, I was
honored to be asked to be a volunteer at the Visions for a New Humanity
Conference in Ashland, Oregon (sponsored by James Twyman and The Beloved
Community). And, I was asked to do something fun I was responsible
for videotaping the kids!! Consequently, I did not get much of a
chance to actually hear James Twyman, Neale Donald Walsch, Steven Simon
and other renowned and respected individuals speak about their visions
for the future. What I did get to hear about came directly from the mouths
of Highly Aware children and teenagers because the children put on a workshop
of their own.
The Beloved Community arranged many activities for these young people.
They enjoyed activities such as arts and crafts (making masks, dream
catchers and music), story telling (including their own), ceremony of
spirit, and of course...bending spoons. I enjoyed every second of my
experience down in Ashland but when we got to the actual bending of
spoons with our minds...well, then I got really excited.
I met William and David as they sat in a quiet corner amongst the drums
and rattles from the music circle. The spoon bending course was just
beginning and I felt the excitement in the air as I sat amongst these
young masters.
They each held a standard hotel tablespoon as they were discussing
how much fun it is to bend spoons or move objects with their mind and
their feeling. "Yeah, I would much rather be bending spoons than
playing video games!" David exclaimed. William asked me to move
across from him, as I was "jamming his frequency". As I moved
I thought about the diminishing battery power on the video camera, because
I had been taping for quite some time. To my surprise (this should not
surprise me anymore as I know these children) William said, "Heather,
dont worry about the battery, we can recharge it for you."
I smiled and continued taping.
Through the lens I saw these kids holding the spoon (near where you
see it bent around on the photo) with their eyes closed. I peaked around
the camera (I still had it aimed at them for recording) to verify what
I saw through the camera. Yes, the two young boys were sitting on their
meditation pillows, holding their spoons in between their thumb and
forefinger and smiling as the sun shined directly on them through the
window. Soon I saw the spoon bending without any motion from either
William or David. They each opened their eyes to see my reaction and
smile for the camera. These two were big hams!! After about twelve minutes,
these spoons were as you see them today in the photo...bent all the
way around.
William and David explained to me how they did this. Basically, with
thought and feeling you become the spoon and you feel yourself
bend. They did not go into much more detail because they said we all
have this ability and we must find it within ourselves. We must prove
it to ourselves. They discussed ONENESS with one another for a few minutes.
William told of his experience of pulling a pill out from inside the
pill bottle (through the plastic) because he could not open the child
proof top on the bottle. And then David responded with his story of
walking through walls at night because his family got "freaked
out" when he did it during the day time. These two have clearly
only just begun their fun on Earth!
David gave me his spoon as a memento of the occasion. Later that day,
I did manage to bend a spoon about one inch with my thought and feeling.
That was truly a gift William and David gave to me that day, and an
experience I will never forget.
