Portland World Theatre Stages William Butler Yeats

Angie Hughes and Ryan Davis are both teachers. In their weekends and evenings they started the Portland World Theatre with the hopes of becoming a non-profit theatre company that will run in perpetuity. They are located in the red barn behind Fred Meyer's on 82nd and Foster. This intimate theater seats thirty people, but they hope to eventually move to a larger space. "Our mission is to provide the community with opportunities to view and participate in underrepresented works and international approaches to theatre at affordable ticket prices," says Angie.

Yeats’s stories come to life as history, biography, and poetry, offering a provocative view of Yeats’ obsession with Irish politics, life after death, and rejected love. Performances on March 6, 13, 26, 27 at 8PM, and March 6, 7, 13, 27 at 2PM. $7 Regular admission $4 Student admission with valid ID. Limited seating—call or e-mail to reserve your tickets now!

Body Mind Spirit Expo
Opening Doors to Alternatives for Health and Wellness

Now in its 18th year and 30 states coast to coast, Body Mind & Spirit Expos has become the largest health and wellness expo in the United States. Expo founder Steve Strickland hopes that by providing these venues around the country, those in search of change will be enabled to take charge of their own well-being.

Body Mind & Spirit Expo comes back to Portland April 24-25 at the Oregon Convention Center, and May 1-2 in Seattle. Its exhibitors bring to life a positive, healing environment, and introduce tools for achieving full body wellness. There will be a variety of workshops (at $25) featuring authors like Michelle and Kevin Hennelly on "Sex True or False" or Dean Van Leuven on "Life without Anger – Your Guide to Peaceful Living." There will also be exciting free lectures throughout the weekend, such as Amen Ra’s powerful initiation in The Gates to Paradise: An Egyptian Meditation, or the stories of visionary Glenn Kolleda. The weekend admission fee of $8 includes entrance to the exhibit hall with over 100 exhibit booths and 60 free lectures. Come rejuvenate! The expo offers a safe environment for growth and exploration, so mark your calendars for April 24-25.

Mothers Moving from Frustration to Action:
Portland’s Mothers Day Parade Planned May 9th

On Sunday, May 9th, Portland women will be gathering together to celebrate a new kind of Mothers Day for first time in Oregon. Parades and rallies called "Mothers Acting Up" (MAU) are being held around the world on this year’s theme, "Voting For Our Children: 2004 and Beyond!" By mobilizing their gigantic political strength "Mothers Acting Up" wants to ensure the health, education and safety of every child, not just a privileged few. The parade organizers plan to make this a fun parade/rally that unites us instead of creating more divisions. To learn more about ‘Mothers Acting Up’ go to  www.mothersactingup.org.
