Dr. Partap Chauhan Visits Portland

Internationally-renowned Ayurvedic physician, Dr. Partap S. Chauhan is coming to Portland as part of his World Tour. The visit will be hosted by Ayurveda Plus Rejuvenation Center. Dr. Chauhan practices Ayurveda in its pure and original form. He is one of the few Ayurvedic physicians who can claim succession to an original Ayurvedic lineage. Dr. Chauhan has his own clinic and pharmacy in Faridabad, a township of Delhi, treating patients suffering from chronic diseases.

Ayurveda is the Vedic science of healing for both body and mind. Yoga is the Vedic science of Self-realization that depends upon a well-functioning body and mind. Dr. Chauhan will explain how this ancient knowledge of Ayurveda can deepen and enhance not only your personal yoga practice, but also all aspects of your life. Specifically, Ayurveda defines 10 different body-mind types and gives us a specific routine, dietary practices, and physical activities for each individual. Here is a perfect opportunity to learn about Ayurveda directly from an expert.

Dr. Chauhan, whose book Eternal Health – The Essence of Ayurveda has been translated into five languages, will be in Portland Sept. 25 to Oct. 1. He is scheduled for several Public talks and workshops: Friday Sept 26th, 7pm at Nature’s NW Lake Oswego - "Ayurvedic Diet and Lifestyle"; Sunday Sept 28, 12 noon at Yoga Northwest - "Yoga & Ayurveda"; Sunday Sept 28, 3pm at New Renaissance Book Shop - "Ayurveda & Spirituality".

Ta Ke Ti Na Experience October 9-11

Ta Ke Ti Na is a musical group process that allows individuals to experience the power of rhythm through their bodies. The rhythmic voice guides us into finding connections between voice and movement while simple patterns of steps and claps embody different pulses. As the complexity of these layers unfolds, the leader guides the group into call-and-response singing. Some "songs" are reinforcing; others challenge the participants' ability to stay in rhythm. By alternating between the unknown and the known, the group becomes stronger and more confident in finding its way back into rhythm. The process reinforces a natural, internal way of learning as well as inducing a deeply relaxed state.

The facilitator and founder of Ta Ke Ti Na, Reinhard Flatischler, percussionist and composer, has been bringing this unique and powerful rhythmic process to the world for 30 plus years. Flatischler & his wife Cornelia will be at Still Meadow Retreat Center in October.

This year, the graduates of The Ta Ke Ti Na teacher training return for their second annual Supervision. The Supervision sets are an opportunity for graduates of the training to demonstrate their mastery of the skills necessary for guiding a group of individuals into a collective rhythm experience. These skills include the ability to give clear directions, build a rhythmic structure, open the structure with music and song, and effectively bring the process to a close.

The general public is invited to participate FREE in Ta Ke Ti NA circles with the current teachers to help further their training. This is a great opportunity for all that would like to experience Ta Ke Ti Na first hand. Come to Still Meadow Oct. 9-11th and join in a circle. You may attend as many sessions as you want; however registration is required. For more information, call Jake Stein at 503-775-7982 or email Niki Doering at ndiam@hotmail.com
