BodyTalk - Gilly Adkins Interviewed

by Cathleen Connor

Q: How was the BodyTalk System originated?

A: The BT system originated back in the early 90’s, due to a chronic virus that Dr. John Veltheim had been living with for many years. After having contracted the Epstein Barr virus six years earlier, he had been left physically debilitated and endured a chronic fever of 101 degrees. He tried everything possible to address the virus but nothing seemed to work. At best he was able to maintain a very limited level of health. He tired easily, could walk no further than 50 ft without cramping and nothing seemed to shift his fever. Despite his weakened state he never lost the use of his tongue! Therefore he was earning his living by lecturing on the world health circuit.

Whilst in New Zealand he reconnected with a couple of his former students who told him about a technique they were experimenting with that seemed to get great results with Chronic viruses, bacteria and dyslexia. Willing to be experimented on, he lay on their table. After a simple procedure, requiring some saliva and a specific tapping technique he went back to his hotel to rest. Within 3 hours his body temperature rose to 105 degrees and stayed there for 3 days. For the first time in six years his body had triggered an immune response and he knew this was a good sign. When he awoke on the 4th day his fever was gone and his temperature was down to normal, he felt great! Needless to say he was impressed and went back to the doctors to find out more. They couldn’t really offer him much of an explanation, but they felt with his background he had the perfect multidisciplinary approach and scientific understanding to explore and develop what they had stumbled onto. They encouraged him to pursue the technique and its possible ramifications, and the result was the BodyTalk system.

Q: There are so many alternative approaches to healing these days. What makes this technique so unique?

A: Its approach. Rather than approaching the symptom/disease head on and just trying to fix the broken, malfunctioning part from a limited perspective, the BT system focuses on the total health of the client. Its focus is on reestablishing communication within the body/mind and restoring the synchronization of all its parts to activate the client’s own innate healing capabilities. It is totally safe, fast and very effective.

When you directly consult the innate wisdom of the body as to priority and sequence of restoring balance within, it guides us to the appropriate links that need to be reestablished. Rather than the client needing to fall into a common treatment plan that may or may not be the best for them, this system totally respects the unique individuality of each person and works with their innate wisdom to resolve the issue(s), often in remarkably fast and simple ways. So even though many presenting symptoms may appear similar, there is nothing similar in the way each individual will wish to address them. It is the first truly holistic system I personally have come across. It utilizes medical science and understanding from both the West and the East and provides a platform for the innate wisdom of the body to choose the most effective path to regain balance and health on all levels.

Q: What are some of the problems it can address?

A: I have seen wonderful health results ranging from relief of chronic pain, migraine headaches, viruses, allergies to spinal problems, digestive disorders and general malaise. Children with reading problems, behavioral and/or emotional problems and a myriad of other physical ailments that weren’t responding to other methods have also responded to BT. Children about to be put on medication because nothing else seemed to be working, arriving in my office and within a few sessions their symptoms gone and their overall health much improved. It is both exciting and a pleasure to see the awesome ability of innate wisdom at work.

This technique is an incredible process. The BT system is attracting people from every corner of the healthfield and I believe it will become a cornerstone of medicine/healthcare in the future.
