Awakening Your Potential
by Garry Morris
Along the path there are many signs leading to your spiritual awakening.
You choose which sign to pay attention to at any moment in time. Is
your conditioned mind blocking your perceptions so that you are missing
the sign? Are you the seeker that takes each path searching for the
truth, often following a scenic detour? At some point along the way,
a new sense appears giving you a knowing of which hunch to follow. This
is part of the journey, a hunch here, a nudge there, a simple sign peeking
into your awareness. Spirit is knocking at your door, as you begin to
awaken to your inner guidance and ultimately your divine guidance.
Whether you initially call your guidance a sixth sense or intuition,
it becomes significant when you learn to trust and follow it. Life is
simplified when you follow your intuition. Extrasensory information
shows up as a gut feeling (clairsentience), a still small voice (clairaudience),
a picture in your minds eye (clairvoyance) or a knowing (claircognizance).
You can learn to utilize these extra senses. In doing so, you will enhance
your perceptions and have a richer life experience. An easy way to awaken
your sixth sense is to acknowledge it and practice following it. It
is important to set an intention allowing your inner guidance to open
and become more pronounced or amplified.
In developing your clairsentience, you may begin by allowing yourself
to breathe deeply, relax, go inward and feel. Allowing your feeling
nature to expand gives you a greater sense of self awareness. Choose
a situation in your life where you are making a decision. Take a minute
or so to hold each choice in your being and sit with it. Center your
focus on the abdomen with each choice in mind, trusting the perceptions
you are receiving. Is the gut feeling you are experiencing upsetting
or peaceful? Notice your bodys subtle differences including your
facial expressions. Taking into account your whole bodys wisdom
you can choose accordingly.
In exercising your clairaudience, begin by quieting the mind in meditation.
If you are an inexperienced meditator, begin simply by focusing on the
breath. When any thoughts enter the mind, just thank them and return
your concentration to the breath. In this way you will quiet the mind
and prepare it to receive an audible response to your question. Next,
ask a single, simple question. Stay quiet and listen for the still small
voice to answer. Accept what you receive. If you receive nothing after
a short period, ask again and wait for the response.
Developing your clairvoyance, focus on the point known as the brow
chakra, or center point slightly above and between the eyebrows. Picture
a bright, orange sun glowing in that spot. To initially develop this
ability you may place an orange dot on this point and gaze at it in
the mirror for a period of 3-5 minutes or until you can easily picture
it when you close your eyes. This exercise will develop your inner sight.
As you continue using this faculty you will learn to trust the visual
images that are appearing in your minds eye. You may see colors,
symbols, pictures, a slide show or a movie.
When your intuition comes in the form of claircognizance, you will
be developing your faith in what you receive. The area of focus will
be the top of the head or crown chakra. Focusing on the crown chakra,
meditating, quieting the mind and trusting the thoughts that arrive,
are the keys for developing this sense of intuition. Pay attention to
your everyday decisions, noticing when solutions or answers appear suddenly
and from a new field of possibilities, not from your deductive mind.
Relaxing your thinking, rational mind and letting go of expectation
frees up your knowing.
As you use your intuitive senses, you may find that one is predominant.
This may be the one that you rely on most often, but all of the senses
may be developed with time and practice. As you gain confidence, you
become more open and spirit will awaken you to new connections in the
moment. The more you trust your intuitive guidance the greater your
awakening is accelerated. As you open to your spiritual essence and
your divine guidance you acknowledge the quickening that is occurring
at this time. The impact of this new awareness raises your vibration
and your consciousness thereby awakening you to your unlimited divine
potential.
