Your Astrological Opportunities For Growth:
Let The Hand Of Jupiter Be Your Guide

by Tauna Magness

On August 1st of this year Jupiter entered the sign of Leo. Jupiter transits Leo until August 26th of 2003. The largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter spends approximately one year in each sign of the zodiac. The astrological community refers to Jupiter as the Greater Benefic. As the term implies, Jupiter expands whatever it touches and offers new opportunities and beneficial conditions within the house that it transits in your chart. Personal growth through the improvement of life circumstances as well as ways to broaden your experience arise. When Jupiter points its mighty finger at an area in your life as symbolically represented in your nativity, there exists a temporary window of opportunity that does not remain open—a careful consideration of going forth with the opportunity when it presents itself is necessary. The benevolent nature of Jupiter is highly compatible with its present transit in the fiery sign of Leo. The emphasis is now on creativity, children’s interests, the opening of the heart chakra, love and fulfillment. To determine the area of life where Jupiter offers benefit, expansion and opportunity, read your Sun and Rising signs.

The inspirational and self-expressive houses (1st, 5th, 9th) are the emphasis for Aries, Leo and Sagittarius:

Aries: You receive Jupiter’s light in your solar Fifth house. This energy supports your personal creativity and joy of life. Children’s interests, romantic love and self-expression through your own creations provide happiness and satisfaction.

Leo: Your solar First house of personal identity is emphasized. Luck and opportunity shine directly on you during this time particularly in the realm of self-improvement. Pick and choose your opportunities wisely as you are beginning a new 12 year Jupiter cycle. It is a superb time to journal your impressions of your future.

Sagittarius: Your solar Ninth house is where beneficial growth manifests. Travel, publishing, higher education, foreign connections and teaching are all possibilities.

The psychological and transformative houses (4th, 8th, 12th) are the emphasis for Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn:

Taurus: Your solar Fourth house of home and family is where Jupiter’s light shines. Re-decorating, moving and/or adding members to your household are all possibilities. You may find yourself acting as host or hostess more than usual. Emotional happiness is centered on home activities and ancestral traditions.

Virgo: Your solar Twelfth house is the focus. During this time, you will require more solitude, time for meditation and quiet contemplation. Discovering your innermost psychological workings can be uncovered now. It is a beneficial time for self-help and/or counseling. Solitary activities provide happiness.

Capricorn: Your solar Eight house is the environment for growth. Shared financial resources, psychological transformation and physical bonding on a deep level with your partner offer opportunities for positive growth and evolution.

The social and relational houses (3rd, 7th, 11th) are the emphasis for Gemini, Libra, Aquarius:

Gemini: Your solar Third house is emphasized. The house of communication is Gemini’s natural home. Siblings, relatives and expanding your sense of community through dialogue with others provide opportunities. You may change your neighborhood in some way to the benefit of all or move to a new location—this will most likely be an upgrade.

Libra: Your solar Eleventh house of groups and friends is your venue for expansion and happiness. Pleasure, benefit and help are all yours if you band together with a group of like-minded souls with a common purpose. Allow new friends to come into your life. Hopes and dreams can become a reality now.

Aquarius: Your solar Seventh house of intimate partners, business contacts and important friendships is up for expansion and new life. Your personal growth involves these significant relationships. Beneficial alliances can now be formed.

The material and career houses (2nd, 6th, 10th) are the emphasis for Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces:

Cancer: Your solar Second house of personal material resources is given new life. A new moneymaking opportunity, raise or bonus is likely to come your way. The Second house rules your personal values. It is a good time to evaluate what is important to you on the mundane and spiritual levels.

Scorpio: Your opportunities are in your solar Tenth house of career. Now is a superb time to go for a promotion—your public is calling and your worldly position is up for improvement. People in positions of authority help you. Of course, the person in authority may be you. In this instance, you can help others within the work environment.

Pisces: Your Sixth house of service and daily routines is up for growth. Benefit comes to you through gaining additional education or work skills. Protection of and taking care of the needs of animals is a positive focus.

Jupiter goes into retrograde motion on December 4th, 2002 and goes direct on April 4th, 2003. December through next April provides a necessary period for re-evaluating the growth that has transpired thus far. Retrograde periods indicate that a time for review is necessary. Are you excited and satisfied with what has developed? Upon Jupiter’s direct motion, a continuation of your progress and development in the respective houses (areas of life) is given a green light.
