March/April 2002 Living Now
Threads of Violet Light
A CD by Marilynn Seits

Reviewed by Miriam Knight

I found myself continually reaching for this new recording as I was preparing this issue for press. I found it wonderfully soothing and a great antidote to the stresses of deadlines. It would be a great background for healing, massage, yoga or relaxation as it carries you gently and serenely along without intruding.

The artist, Marilynn Seits, is a composer and pianist who is well known for both her jazz and New Age recordings. You may have heard her bestseller, Featherthouch. She has traveled to China to study Tai Chi and Qi-Gong, so her music is well-attuned to resonate with the body. According to Marilynn, the inspiration for Threads of Violet Light came from the association of the color with health and healing, springtime and rebirth. Violet is the color associated with the Crown and Third Eye chakras and with the key of B, a pitch used frequently in the recording.

The recording is produced by CMR Moongate Records: www.shadow.net/~jazznow.
