Stretching Your Boundaries in 2002
Bringing Your Highest Vision Down to Earth!

Casting an astrology chart for the New Year positions the life-giving Sun in the 10^th degree of Capricorn, or in what could be called a “one” year (1+0=1). This is not to be confused with the numerology of the calendar year 2002 where 2+0+0+2= 4.

A “one” year based upon the Sun’s midnight zodiac position on January 1^st (from the teachings of astrologer Anne Toth) represents new beginnings, manifesting new directions, unity, and inner wholeness. The “four” numerology of the year 2002 represents good common sense, attention to pragmatic concerns, and disciplined hard work.

The challenge of the “one” vibration is to avoid selfishness while developing leadership abilities. You must reach to the Source of Oneness in order to bring your unique talents into worldly practice.

The “four” vibration must cultivate the ability to adapt and change. “Four” directs its energy towards building a solid foundation in the world. Together, you must lead yourself to new heights of experience, channeling that new energy to serve the Highest Good of all.

In other words, you are called to merge heaven and earth during 2002. A current planetary shift reflects the blending of the “one” and the “four” energy of the year ahead.

Last Dec. 11^th, a minor planet called Chiron moved into the sign Capricorn. Discovered in 1977, this so-called minor planet creates profound effects. Chiron stimulates your “Higher Self” into a greater level of service on Mother Earth. To do so, you must heal the place where you are wounded.

In mythology, the immortal-god Chiron was a half-human, half-beast centaur. In one of many conflicting myths, Chiron transcended his animal nature and rescued a woman in trouble. Zeus-Jupiter, angered at Chiron’s good deed, shot him with either a poisoned arrow or a thunderbolt.

Imagine the paradox of being immortal, yet mortally wounded. You cannot go to a traditional doctor for such a problem. This is one of the stories that suggest that Chiron rules, or oversees, alternative healers. Where are the paradoxes in your life?

Another commonly held interpretation is that Chiron forces you to stretch your boundaries. Most astronomers think that Chiron is a nucleus of a comet that became captured between Saturn and Uranus. In metaphysical terms, this comet brought its energy into our solar system from long ago and far away. It is a messenger to help people go beyond their boundaries, while still working within earthbound restrictions.

Between now and December 2005, Chiron is traveling through the constellation of Capricorn. From a mystical perspective, the zodiac sign of the goat, or sea goat, signifies an initiation into a new world order. Like walking into the Great Pyramid to be initiated into a higher frequency of soul vibration, the increased Capricorn influence requires you to express more of your Divine Essence in your daily life.

You must still work within the confines of the human form. However, you simultaneously stretch beyond the limitations of that form in order to bring forth higher information. The natal zodiac sign and house placement of Chiron in your birth chart helps you know where you feel wounded in this life and where you can best stretch beyond your physical boundaries to relieve your suffering.

Chiron’s travels around the zodiac also have an effect on the collective of humanity. For example, between Feb. 1999 and Dec. 2001, Chiron was in Sagittarius. Society looked at its wounded-ness through religious and ethnic fanaticism in Serbia/Kosovo, and more recently, in Afghanistan. Rather than fighting a war for economic concerns, the world stretched its boundaries to fight for humanitarian rights. The wounded-ness of various groups was brought to the surface.

So what might we expect of Chiron’s trip through Capricorn?

Capricorn represents structure, short-term sacrifice for long-term gain, crystals, cryogenics, government, and monuments. On the health level, Capricorn represents skin diseases, chiropractors, teeth, skeletal structure, joints/knees, and frostbite. It rules time and timing, as in, “there is never enough time in a day.” Perhaps Chiron in Capricorn will stretch our minds beyond three-dimensional thinking into expanded dimensions of space and time.

On a personal level, you must clean up your past. Chiron released his immortality in order to relieve his suffering. What, within your own consciousness, is preventing you from moving on? Now would be a good time to make a list of all your talents. In the coming 4 years, Chiron may call you to use those talents in a different way than used previously.

If your Sun sign (or if you have natal planets in) is Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, or Libra, you will be challenged to take actions that will produce constructive and tangible results.

If you are a Sun sign Aquarius, Leo, Taurus, or Scorpio, you are likely to uncover hidden aspects of yourself. This could range from past life talents to old wounds that you thought were already healed.

If you are a Sun sign Pisces, Virgo, Gemini, or Sagittarius, you will learn how to adapt current talents into materially productive application of your visionary ideas.

For everyone, the places where both you and society suffer are initially likely to rise to the surface. You now have the opportunity to heal all those formerly hidden wounds. As time goes by, your talents will be redirected to help you bring your vision down to earth. If you allow the sensitive energies of Chiron to transcend your lower nature, you will find that 2002 will improve your solid foundation in the world. Above all, stretch your boundaries to allow more of your essential spirit to flow through you. Abundant blessings to you in the coming year!
